Ace Frehley, the legendary guitarist and co-founder of the iconic rock band KISS, has passed away at the age of 74.
According to the Morris County Medical Examiner in New Jersey, Frehley died on Thursday, October 16, due to blunt force trauma caused by a fall.
The injuries he sustained included a skull fracture, a subdural hematoma, and a stroke, which ultimately led to his family’s heartbreaking decision to remove him from life support. The accident took place in Frehley’s studio, where he suffered a severe brain bleed.
Despite undergoing surgery to relieve the pressure, Frehley never regained consciousness. Officials have confirmed that his death was the result of an accident.
Born Paul Daniel Frehley in the Bronx, New York, Ace was a visionary musician who helped shape rock music through his work with KISS. His distinctive guitar playing and larger-than-life persona as the “Spaceman” captivated audiences worldwide.
Frehley’s music and presence defined an era, with hits like “Detroit Rock City” and “Shock Me.”
In an emotional tribute, KISS co-founder Paul Stanley called Frehley “a brother in music” and praised him as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Fans, too, flooded social media with heartfelt messages, remembering Frehley’s contributions to rock music and his enduring influence.
