Luis Fernando Carranza, Denton Resident, Tragically Killed in Early Morning Shooting Outside QuikTrip Gas Station

Luis Fernando Carranza, a 24-year-old resident of Denton, Texas, tragically lost his life on the morning of Sunday, September 28th, in a senseless act of violence outside a QuikTrip gas station.

The Denton Police Department identified Carranza as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred at approximately 12:58 a.m. Authorities responded to reports of a fight in the parking lot at 321 Eagle Drive, followed by gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Carranza suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately transported him to Medical City Denton. He was later pronounced deceased at 1:19 a.m.

According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, Carranza’s death was ruled a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the chest. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a right-of-way in the parking lot, during which Carranza’s alleged assailants, 26-year-old Alfred Lamont Jackson Jr. and his girlfriend, 24-year-old Olivia Guster, were involved in a violent altercation. Jackson, facing charges of murder and aggravated assault, reportedly shot Carranza. Guster, who is also charged with murder, allegedly assaulted Carranza and his friend.

In a flood of heartfelt tributes on social media, friends and community members expressed their grief. One post noted, "Such a devastating loss for our community. We are keeping his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers."

Further details regarding funeral services are yet to be announced, as loved ones continue to process the loss.
