Destiny Michelle Brumbaugh, Loving Mother and Florist, Passes Away at 42 in Durant, IA
Destiny Michelle Brumbaugh of Durant, Iowa, tragically passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 42.
Born on November 20, 1982, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Destiny was the youngest of three daughters. A 2001 graduate of West High School, she went on to earn a degree in Floral Careers from Kirkwood Community College in 2002. Destiny dedicated much of her life to floristry, working at Jan's Flower Yard in West Liberty, Iowa, for several years before opening her own business, The Flower Yard.
However, it was Destiny's love for her family that truly defined her. She dreamed of being a mother, and her children—Serenity (15), Alice (13), Viveca (6), Johann (6), and Emma (3)—were the light of her life. In addition to her children, she leaves behind her parents, Earl and Helen Brumbaugh, sisters Jessica Bradshaw and Julia Brumbaugh, and her partner Dustin Young.
Destiny is also survived by her nephew and nieces, while her late husband, Jason Alden, awaits her in heaven.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Private family graveside services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, rural Prairieburg, Iowa.
In a message of support, the community has shared heartfelt condolences for the Brumbaugh family. One well-wisher wrote, "We are deeply sorry for your loss. Destiny's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her."
