Elvera J. Drivinghawk, 23, Tragically Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Hughes County, SD
Elvera J. Drivinghawk, a 23-year-old from Kennebec, South Dakota, tragically lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident on Sunday, September 28th, 2025. The incident occurred around 8:43 p.m. on Highway 34 near mile marker 231 in Hughes County.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Drivinghawk was struck by a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country traveling westbound. The vehicle was operated by a 27-year-old male from Rock Valley, Iowa, who was unharmed.
Despite efforts, Elvera sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have stated that the crash appears to be a single-vehicle, pedestrian-involved incident, but investigations are ongoing.
