Kaiden Phillips, a 15-year-old student and basketball player at Hill Regional Career High School, tragically lost his life on the evening of Saturday, September 27th, in New Haven, Connecticut. Authorities confirmed that Phillips was fatally shot after a dispute escalated with another individual, leading to the use of a firearm.

At approximately 7:55 p.m., Phillips was found unresponsive near Bassett Street and Dixwell Avenue, close to the Lincoln-Bassett Community School. The school was closed at the time of the incident. Police Chief Karl Jacobson expressed his sorrow, stating that Phillips was "a good kid" who was known for his involvement in basketball and his positive influence within the community.
